Mecosta County deputies respond to vehicle fire U.S. 131, exit 139

MECOSTA COUNTY — Deputies with the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls. All calls may not be reported. All suspects are assumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

• Deputies responded to one car crash without injury and issued one misdemeanor summons during a traffic stop.

• Deputies responded to the 5000 block of 200th Avenue, Mecosta Township, to execute a warrant arrest on male for failure to appear. He posted bond on road and was given next appearance date.

• A civil dispute was reported in the 13000 block of High Sierra Pass, Colfax Township. A male allegedly parked his dump truck on the easement at the entrance of his neighbor's property so they couldn't get out. He moved the dump truck a few hours later. Several hours later, the male with the dump truck called to report that his neighbor's boyfriend allegedly drove by at a high rate of speed and almost hit him. The subject denied doing so.

• Deputies responded to the 17000 block of Monroe, Deerfield Township. A man was burning brush. He had parked his ATV too close to the fire, and the fire melted plastic pieces on the ATV, according to police.

• A suspicious complaint was filed involving Up North Radio. Emails had allegedly been sent out to customers asking them to click a link to send payment. Emails were not from them and are fraudulent.  

• Deputies executed a warrant arrest in the 13000 block of 10th Avenue, Sheridan Township. Female was arrested on a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant. She was lodged at Mecosta County Jail.

• Deputies responded to a property damage accident in the 16000 block of 130th Avenue, Colfax Township. They arrested a male for operating while intoxicated and cited him for failure to report accident. Vehicle was towed by Big Rapids Tow.

• Malicious destruction of property was reported in the 11000 block of 90th Avenue, Morton Township. Male reported his camper and tractor cover had been spray painted. Possible suspect is a known female. Evidence was collected, and the case is under investigation.

• Deputies responded to the 13000 block of 190th Avenue, Big Rapids Township. Male called alleging his girlfriend had been abusing him. 

• Deputies responded to U.S. 131 and Perry Avenue, Big Rapids Township. A male reported someone had stole his catalytic converter off his truck.

• Deputies responded to U.S. 131 and 8 Mile Road, Stanwood. A male reported someone has stole his catalytic converter off his vehicle. 

• Deputies responded to Canadian Lakes Campground in Morton Township for a report of trespassing. A male, who had been evicted from the campground July 15, was on the property. He was given an appearance date for trespassing.   

• Malicious destruction of property was reported in the 9000 block of Shore Drive, Morton Township. A female reported her window had been broken out of her parked vehicle. 

• Deputies responded to two car-deer crashes and one car crash without injury. 

• Deputies conducted one traffic stop and issued a misdemeanor summons.

• Deputies responded to the southbound on ramp, exit 139, on U.S. 131 for a report of a vehicle fire on highway.

• Deputies responded to the 10000 block of 205th Avenue, Mecosta Township, for a domestic situation that occurred Aug. 14.

• A female reported she has been getting harassed by another female.

• Deputies responded to the 15000 block of 220th Avenue. A male reportedly rolled a semi on private property while dumping the trailer.

• A civil dispute was reported in the 18000 block of 16 Mile Road. Caller said she needs a handicap placard back from another female.

• Deputies made a traffic stop on suspect vehicle near Perry and Venlo Drive. They allegedly recovered over $200 worth of stolen items from a male and female.   

• Deputies conducted two traffic stops where they issued misdemeanor summons.

• Universal Rent It All reported a male had not returned a 50-pound man lift. They then reported later that he had returned it.

• An assault was reported at Remus Laundry in Wheatland Township. A male reportedly was standing in the laundry mat when another male appeared next to him allegedly holding a phone in his face and taking his picture. Male with phone reportedly was taking a photo of the first male due to the first male being 22 and hanging out with the second male’s 14-year-old daughter, according to police.

• Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a 2005 Kia with no insurance near Northland Drive and Monroe, Aetna Township. Male had two warrants out Manistee County and was lodged at the Mecosta County Jail.

• Deputies responded to the 800 block of Sheridan. A male and female reported getting multiple hang up calls from unknown persons.

• A larceny was reported in the 18000 block of Northland Drive, Big Rapids Township. An employee reported her phone stolen. Security tape shows a male returning a grocery cart and grabbing the phone off the ledge before leaving. Phone was pinged and located. Investigation continues.
